How to Put on Hair Extensions - What You Should Know Before Choosing Your Hair Extensions

You would never pass up the chance to look great in minutes, would you? Really, don't be alarmed. What you need are hair extensions, the latest accessories to emerge from the hair fashion landscape.

These extensions exist in varying shades, textures and sources. There are also various ways of attaching the extensions to your own hair. You can weave, braid, fuse, bond or clip on the extensions.

Clip-on or clip-in. These are hair extensions with micro clips at one end that allow you to clip on the accessory to your hair. You can save some cash if you clip on the accessories by yourself. The task does not require expert handling by a professional hairdresser.

Braiding. Some hair extensions aren't equipped with micro clips and need to be braided along with your own hair, hence the name "braiding". Note that there are several ways you can braid your hair. A skilled hairdresser should be able to execute a variety of styles.

Bonding. Other hair extension techniques require the application of bonding glue at one end of the extensions so that the glued tip will stick securely on your hair root. The process is referred to as bonding. Bonding is as easy as sticking on a false eyelash on your eye lid. Detaching the hair extensions is easy, but you need to use a special glue remover designed for this purpose.

Weaving is the best known method of hair extension attachment. You must utilize your natural hair to create tracks where you will have someone weave or sew the hair extensions onto. For satisfactory results, it is essential that you make the tracks as close to your scalp as possible. Because the hair extensions conceal your own hair, experts recommend this method if you have severely damaged tresses.

Fusion. Some other hair extensions can be attached following the "hot glue gun" method. The extensions are fastened to your hair using a hot glue gun. The hot glue is applied to the extensions then attached to the root of your hair. This method is labor-intensive and can take several hours of your time. Recently there's been a new method called "Cold fusion". This method uses a keratin-based polymer to attach the extensions to the root of your hair. This method is more gentle on your hair and the use of a hot glue gun is no longer required.

Pre-tipped hair extensions are marketed with a small amount of glue already attached to one end of the extensions. You then attach the extensions with the help of a special applicator.

Ring X. If you're looking for a fairly modern technique, there's Ring X. Small metallic rings have been placed at one end of the hair extensions. To fasten the rings to your hair, you need to use of a special tool.

Keep in mind that the clip-on technique is something that you can do by yourself without risking any damage done to your hair or your hair extensions. Clip-on extensions are also easier to care for. For the rest of the methods though, it's best that you leave the job to a professional hairdresser.

How to Do Smokey Eye Makeup - Step by Step!

The smokey eye is sexy and mysterious. The best thing about it is that it looks great on everybody! From young girls to mature women...even on boys! (Punk rock smokey eyes that is!..think Pete Wentz). Smokey eyes never go out of fashion! I suggest wearing the smokey eye at night as a dress up thing, rather than everyday. You want them to be sexy...not gothic.

It's quite easy to achieve when done correctly. I'm going to talk you through it step by step so you too can rock the smokey eye!

1. Use a medium sized eye shadow brush to apply white/flesh toned eyeshadow from the bottom of your eyelid up to your eyebrow. It shouldn't be heavy, just enough so that it gives you a clean palette of colour to work on.

2. Take a black pencil eyeliner and line the tops of both lids, not too heavily

3. Using the medium eye shadow brush, apply light grey eyeshadow over your eyelid only

4. Use a small eyeshadow brush to apply black eyeshadow to the outside of your lids and half way across the top of your eyelid. Kind of like an 'R' shape on your left eye and a back to front 'R' shape on your left

5. Apply eyeliner underneath your eyes, lightly for daytime and heavier for night wear

6. Apply black mascara to the top and bottom

7. Curl them

8. Go out and show them off!
